La Solitude is one of the oldest families in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, with origins dating back to the 15th century. In the 17th century, Hélène Barberini, a Tuscan noblewoman, married Claude Martin, a vineyard owner in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Their grandson produced the appellation's first label, ushering in a new era for the Solitude family. La Solitude wines were recognized for their quality, gaining widespread recognition and excellence in the terroir. Eight generations later, the domaine remains family-run, currently led by Florent Lanson.
The estate owns 37 hectares of organically farmed vineyards in the AOC Châteauneuf-du-Pape, cultivating 13 varieties that mark the history of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
The domain is divided into 33 plots, 33 hectares in the periphery and 4 hectares in the northern part of the appellation, and has a natural and complex inheritance, creating a mosaic of saffre and pebbles.
