Cantina Produttori Cormòns sits at the heart of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, in Italy's north-east, and carries a rich winemaking tradition into the present day. Founded in 1968 by local growers as a cooperative, it now counts more than 120 member families farming some 350 hectares of vineyard.
Its creed is harmony between land, vine and people, and it achieves its quality by marrying traditional cellar craft to modern systems for tracking agronomic and weather data. Every member keeps a detailed growing record — the "country notebook" — shared across the cooperative, logging each stage of the vine's development and the condition of the plot. Variation in quality is kept in check, and the expression of terroir sharpened.
Cormòns lies in a part of Friuli that has made wine since ancient times, home to Collio, Friuli DOC, Friuli Isonzo DOC and more. With the Alps to the north and the Adriatic to the east, the region enjoys a great range of geology and microclimates, and its mineral-rich soils yield wines of real refinement. This has long been a centre of wine culture whose bottles reached tables and courts across Europe — and it is admired by wine lovers worldwide to this day.
The range is built around native varieties. Among the whites are Pinot Grigio and Friulano, shaped by the local climate and soils, and a fragrant, bracing Sauvignon Blanc, each balancing fruit against minerality. The Pinot Grigio shows a straw colour with a greyish cast, notes of banana and apple, and an elegant almond note on the finish.
The cellar is also known for a singular bottling called Vino della Pace — the Wine of Peace. The project grew from the idea of blending grape varieties gathered from all over the world into a single wine, carrying a message that reaches across cultures and histories. A different artist designs the label each year, which is a considerable part of its appeal.
Beyond wine, Cormòns welcomes visitors with tours and tastings, an enoteca and pairings with local cooking, so that guests can explore Friuli's food and wine in depth. Rooted in the history of the region and the lives of its people, and committed to expressing the character of its land as fully as possible, Cormòns remains a real presence on the contemporary wine scene.
