[Friuli's elegance nurtured by the Alpine breezes and sea minerals]
Located in the heart of Friuli-Venezia Giulia in northeastern Italy, Cantina Produttori Cormòns is a historic winery that continues to carry on the rich traditions of wine culture to the present day. Founded in 1968 by local wine growers, the cooperative now comprises over 120 members and cultivates approximately 350 hectares of vineyards.
Based on the motto of "harmony between land, grapes, and people," the winery combines traditional winemaking techniques with the latest agricultural and meteorological data management systems to produce high-quality wines. Each member shares detailed cultivation records known as "countryside notebooks," and keeps a close eye on the grape growth stages and the state of the fields. This minimizes variations in quality and allows the winery to pursue outstanding terroir expression.
The Friuli region, where Cormons is located, has long been known as a land of thriving wine-growing, boasting a variety of wine-producing regions, including Collio, Friuli DOC, and Friuli-Isonzo DOC. Bordered by the Alps to the north and the Adriatic Sea to the east, this region boasts diverse geology and microclimates, and its mineral-rich soil produces refined wines. This region has long been the heart of a wine culture that has made its name on dining tables and in royal courts across Europe, and continues to garner high praise from wine lovers around the world.
The winery boasts a diverse lineup centered on local varieties. Representative white wines include Pinot Grigio and Friulano, which are cultivated in the region's climate and soil, as well as the refreshing and fragrant Sauvignon Blanc, each of which offers a balanced fruitiness and minerality. Pinot Grigio is straw-colored with hints of gray, and is characterized by aromas of banana and apple, with an elegant almond finish.
They are also known for a special wine called "Vino della Pace." This project, which means "Wine of Peace," was born from the idea of fusing grape varieties from around the world into one wine, and contains a message that transcends culture and history. The label features a different artist each year, adding to its artistic appeal.
Cormòns not only produces wine, but also offers facilities that allow visitors to fully experience Friuli's rich food culture and the world of wine, such as experience programs including tours and tastings, an enoteca, and pairings with local cuisine. Cormòns, which upholds the philosophy of "expressing the individuality of the land to the fullest" through winemaking that is closely linked to the region's history and the lives of its people, continues to make its presence known in the modern wine scene.
