About the Distillery and Bottle

The distillery was founded in 1824 by Alexander Reid under the name Elchies, and was renamed Macallan-Glenlivet in 1892. Between 1965 and 1975, the facilities were expanded multiple times, increasing the number of pot stills from 6 to 21. In 1999, the Edrington Group acquired the distillery, and in April 2016, construction began on a new distillery with 36 stills. This new facility, with its impressive futuristic design, began operation in January 2018.
This bottle was matured in a second-fill bourbon cask, showcasing the fruity character of the iconic single malt, Macallan, like never before. It presents an astonishingly fresh style, with honey-like sweetness, herbal nuances, and a complex interplay of spice, forming a very deep and sophisticated aroma and flavor profile.

About the ARTIST Collection

The "ARTIST" collection was established by La Maison du Whisky in 2011 and is a special collection featuring only single casks bottled at cask strength.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Rich and deep. Initially, notes reminiscent of rice, strong spices, and fresh fruit aromas come to the forefront. Gradually, honey-like sweetness, nuances of herbal infusions, and even medicinal elements layer on, increasing complexity.

Palate: Lively and dynamic. Centered around the spicy sensation perceived in the nose, it unfolds into a very refreshing and exotic breadth. Subsequently, smooth and luscious flavors reminiscent of vanilla flan and fresh figs emerge.

Finish: Long and silky. Flavors reminiscent of licorice and herbal infusions transition into more malty and root vegetable tones, lending suppleness and structure to the aftertaste. Eventually, from the empty glass, aromas of white pepper, cinnamon, and green licorice rise.
