About the Distillery and Bottle

Ardbeg Distillery was founded in 1815. It ceased operations from 1981 to 1987, then was acquired by Glenmorangie Company in 1997 and revived after extensive renovation.
This expression features spirits distilled during a period when the distillery operated for only two months a year, showcasing an exceptionally elegant side of the renowned Islay malt, Ardbeg.
Through extended maturation, all elements of its flavor have achieved an almost poetic purity. This is layered with oily, earthy, and licorice-like peat, adding further character and depth.

About the ARTIST Collection

The "ARTIST" collection, established in 2011 by La Maison du Whisky, is a special collection dedicated exclusively to single cask bottlings at cask strength.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Delicate yet complex. Peat, accompanied by autumnal toasted notes, brings a high degree of sophistication to the entire aroma. With aeration, noble smokiness, floral, fruity, and herbaceous nuances gradually unfold.

Palate: Full-bodied and viscous. Flavors of stewed strawberries, candied ginger, and gentian root emerge, with a distinct minerality on the attack. Empyreumatic notes lead into a captivating floral world from the mid-palate onwards.

Finish: Long and powerful. Flavors of orange peel, clove, and salted caramel butter linger on the palate, along with elegant malt and peat. The aftertaste is very rich, highlighting abundant floral aromas.
