[The Essence of Graves, Woven from Tradition and Innovation]
Château Latour-Martillac is a Grand Cru Classé estate that stands out prominently within the Graves appellation. Acquired in 1871 by the Kressmann family—then Bordeaux wine merchants—the château has passed down a meticulous philosophy of viticulture and winemaking through generations, creating a unique style that harmonizes classical heritage with modern sensibilities.
In recent years, the quality of the wines has dramatically improved thanks to consulting by Michel Rolland and the late Professor Denis Dubourdieu of the University of Bordeaux (with his team continuing the work after his passing).
The red wines, based primarily on Cabernet Sauvignon and skillfully blended with Merlot, reveal complex aromas of concentrated black fruits layered with nuances of spice and cedar. Silky tannins and excellent acidity provide a solid structure, allowing the wine to gain further depth with age.
The white wines are crafted with a carefully considered ratio of Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon. They are known for their elegant palate, marked by fresh citrus notes, white flowers, and a distinctive minerality.
The terroir consists of classic Graves soils—well-draining gravel that fosters both concentration and finesse. In recent years, the estate has also actively embraced sustainable viticultural practices, striving to balance environmental stewardship with top-tier quality.
