[A young reformer redefining La Mancha]

Located in the vast plains of La Mancha, Spain, in the Tomelloso region, Verum has established itself as a winery showcasing the region's potential to the world, as its name suggests. Winemaker Elías López Montero is the youngest son of the López Montero family, whose family has been involved in winemaking and distilling for four generations. He began his career locally in 2001, honing his skills at Aalto (Ribera del Duero) and Distell in South Africa, before founding Bodegas Verum with his family in 2005. Elias is considered a pioneer of high-quality wine in La Mancha. His philosophy is "not to dominate nature, but to understand it and guide it with respect." All grapes are hand-picked and sorted for small-scale production. Yields are kept below 6,000 kg/ha, and sustainable cultivation practices are thoroughly implemented, including green harvesting and the use of cover crops. The vineyards, located at an altitude of 650-750 meters, are made of a soil called "Tosca," which is made up of limestone bedrock and a thin layer of topsoil. The large temperature difference between day and night and the dry climate produce grapes with both concentrated flavor and acidity.

The "Las Tinadas" series is attracting worldwide attention as the new face of La Mancha. Among them, Las Tinadas Airén de Pie Franco, which is made from old Airén trees, is a product that differs from conventional mass-produced This wine completely redefines the image of Airén. Aged in clay amphorae and stainless steel tanks, it exhibits complex aromas of citrus, white fruits, and herbs, with a saline minerality. This wine has received high praise from international critics such as Jancis Robinson MW, Tim Atkin, and the UK's Decanter magazine, and is considered a wine that symbolizes the future of Spanish wine.

Verum also expresses the depth of La Mancha's terroir with a diverse lineup, including Las Tinadas Cencibel, a Cencibel (Tempranillo) aged in amphorae. Each cuvée has a refined structure, based on purity of fruit, taut acidity and minerality.

In 2018, Elías López Montero was selected as one of the "10 young winemakers shaping the future of Spanish wine" by the British magazine Decanter, and in 2021 he was named the world's best wine producer by Germany's Respected by Gaggenau, earning him growing international acclaim.

With a belief in tradition, innovation and authenticity, Verum is now shining on the world stage as a pioneer of the future of La Mancha.
