Depiac is located in the village of Montpeyrou, 36km northwest of Montpellier, a city in the Languedoc region.
The name of the village "Montpeyrou" comes from "stony mountain". Most of the vineyards are located in the area commonly known as "Aupiac", on sunny hills facing southeast. Located 40km from the Mediterranean Sea, this region has a mild Mediterranean climate and is blessed with abundant sunshine.
Montpeyroux is located at the foot of the Larzac plateau, so it is characterized by relatively cool nights even in summer. There is also a lot of fog in the mornings, and areas with a cooler environment have great potential.
The soil of the 22 hectares of vineyards in Depiac, which are spread across several locations, is varied, including limestone, clay-limestone, and gravel. It is also rare to find a blue clay layer underground that retains just the right amount of moisture. It is this moist clay that allows the vines to withstand the intense dryness typical of the Languedoc region.
