Marc de Bourgogne Hors d'Âge 2004 Domaine Guillot-Broux

Marc de Bourgogne Hors d'âge (500ml) 2004

After dinner: a golden glass polished by time.

A marc distilled from Pinot Noir that has taken on a deep golden hue through long ageing. Dried fruit, caramel, nuts and spice build in complex layers, unfolding slowly with soft roundness and depth. The spirit's power has been smoothed away, leaving the refinement and harmony that only age brings. Enjoy it after dinner with a cigar, or poured over blackcurrant sorbet as a "trou bourguignon" between courses.

Tasting note

Marc is an after-dinner spirit, especially prized by cigar lovers. It is also used in the traditional Burgundian "trou bourguignon" (a blackcurrant sorbet or granita with marc), served as a palate cleanser during great banquets and lavish meals.

Winemaking & technical data

Particularities
Marc de Bourgogne is distilled from the pomace left after pressing red wine. Commonly called "marc", it is traditionally distilled by the bouilleur de cru (a grower who distils their own wine).
The spirit is then aged for at least 10 years before bottling.
As with all great spirits, the length of ageing matters more than the vintage itself, which is why Guillot-Broux states the bottling date on every bottle.
Ageing: 10 to 16 years in oak barrels
Production: 400 bottles
