1880年にスコットランドを離れ、ナパ・バレーへ渡ったレニー兄弟。5年後に石造りのワイナリーを建て、ラザフォードとセントヘレナにまたがる60エーカーに植えた畑は、いまカティアール家が受け継いでいます。その自社畑のブドウのみで造られるキュヴェです。ダークチェリーとチョコレートに、ユーカリのほのかなニュアンス。深みと凝縮感を備え、細やかなタンニンと長い余韻がラザフォードの個性を伝えます。

Tasting note

It has depth and concentration, expressing the true character of Rutherford. The aroma is dark cherry, chocolate, and a hint of eucalyptus that spreads in the mouth. With fine tannins and a long finish, it is a wine that embodies the terroir.

Winemaking & technical data

The grapes are gently destemmed and optically sorted to select only the best berries. Grapes are gravity transferred to fermentation tanks for a maximum of 5 days of cold soak. Fermentation temperatures are kept below 28°C and gentle pumping over and punching down is used. After 30 days of tank aging, malolactic fermentation takes place spontaneously in new French oak.
Aging: 16-18 months in 40% new French oak barrels and 60% large barrels
