Côtes du Jura Vin Jaune 2018 Noir Frères - Domaine de la Petite Marne

Côtes du Jura - Yellow Wine

Six years and three months under a veil of flor.

More than six years and three months in barrel, ageing quietly beneath a veil of flor — a way of working permitted only in the Jura. From 100% Savagnin come aromas of lemon peel, walnut, curry-like spice and the character of well-aged Comté. Taut acidity and a deep savour sit together, and the wine shifts with every sip. Serve it with chicken and mushrooms in cream, or with mature Comté. It will keep for twenty years and more.

Tasting note

The initial impression of the aroma is very fragrant and complex. Notes of white-fleshed fruit, citrus, candied fruit, spices, and floral scents, along with alcoholic nuances, are perceptible. As it breathes, the aromas of green apple, lemon juice and zest, raisins, and confit fruit become more expressive. Further layers of curry and grey pepper spices emerge, accompanied by the elegance of a white floral bouquet, and hints of walnuts, hazelnuts, and aged Comté cheese. The attack is fresh, with a striking lively acidity. The mid-palate maintains its freshness, gradually evolving into a rounded texture. The aromas perceived on the nose translate directly to the palate, offering rich umami and depth. The finish is vibrant, with a subtle roundness and a pleasant bitterness.

Winemaking

An iconic wine representative of the Jura region, Vin Jaune develops a unique and complex aromatic world by aging under flor (voile) for over six years and three months in oak barrels (oxidative aging).
