Oculus (Magnum) 2020 Mission Hill Family Estate

Oculus Magnum 1.5L

Canada's first 100-point red: the ultimate expression of the Okanagan Valley.

Mission Hill's flagship, first made in 1997 as "the ultimate expression of the Okanagan Valley". John Schreiner awarded the 2020 vintage 100 points, making it the first Canadian red wine to reach that score. Its name comes from the oculus that brings the only natural light into the estate's underground barrel cellar, blasted out of volcanic rock. After optical sorting, the wine is fermented in French oak and concrete, aged for 19 months in French oak and rested about two years in bottle before release. Merlot brings rich red and blue fruit; Cabernet Franc adds a subtle herbal complexity, Cabernet Sauvignon supports the length and Petit Verdot the structure.
