Côte-Rôtie La Porchette 2023 Domaine Julien Pilon

Cote-Rôtie - La porchette 2023

Tasting note

Deep ruby red in appearance, the aroma is a complex intertwining of ripe blackberries and blueberries with spices, subtle smoked notes, and minerality. When you put it in your mouth, the supple, powerful tannins and firm acidity spread in a balanced manner, and the concentrated flavors of black fruit and nuances of vanilla and chocolate from the barrel linger on your palate for a long time. It has great aging potential and will gain even more depth over time.

Food pairing

Grilled Lamb Chop Roast duck (with orange or berry sauce) Lean steak (pepper sauce or red wine sauce)

Winemaking & technical data

Cultivation
This cuvée is primarily sourced from the Bassenon terroir in the villages of Tupin and Sémons, located in the southernmost part of the region. A small plot of land in the Rozier parcel, located just north of Ampuis, is also included in the blend. The vines are planted at a high density of 9,000 vines per hectare, cultivated on a stilt system.
Soils: Granite and gneiss in the south, shale in the north.

brewing
The grapes are hand-harvested, all de-stemmed and not crushed.
Vinification takes place in open stainless steel tanks for approximately three weeks, with frequent short pumpings (remontages), and malolactic fermentation takes place in barrels.
