Fritzi's Vineyard Riesling 2023 Martin's Lane Winery

Fritzi's Vineyard Riesling

A dry Riesling from the foot of a dormant volcano, named for the owner's mother.

A single-vineyard Riesling from Fritzi's Vineyard (planted 1997), a warm, south-east-facing parcel at the foot of the dormant volcano Mount Boucherie in West Kelowna. The vineyard is named after the owner's mother, Fritzi. The fruit spends 48 hours on the skins with stems, then ferments spontaneously in German oak casks. Racy acidity (pH 2.88, 8.2 g/L) meets a dry finish with just 3.0 g/L of residual sugar. Stony, refined and powerful on the nose; precise, intense and racy on the palate. The hot 2023 vintage yielded minuscule volumes and a Riesling of opulence and great texture.
