"Herrenreben" means "Lords' Vineyards" and the Lords of Ribeauvillé already owned vineyards in this plot in the 15th century.
This is where the oldest Riesling vines are planted, with deep roots in the granite giving the wines a great minerality, and the high altitude (up to 500m) enhances the wines' beautiful acidity.
